Cover Letters and Objectives
Why is it Important to Find a Good Example of a Cover Letter?
Your cover letter is just as important as your resume because it is often the first thing read and plays an important role in trying to get an interview. It takes a lot of time to write a good cover letter example. The purpose of a cover letter is to inform the employer why they should read your resume and why they should interview you.
Your letter serves as a written example of your work product. It needs to be clear, brief, and written in a business type style without any grammatical or spelling errors. An example of a cover letter should be used to have a polished and professional looking letter.
When you respond to a job opening, you usually send a cover letter with the application. Use the job description and qualifications as a guide. Tell them why you are a good fit for this job and show that your qualifications are a great fit in filling this position.
Use a standard business letter format for your cover letter. Your name, address, telephone number and email address should appear at the top of the letter. You can add your telephone number and email address again in your last paragraph when asking them to contact you for an interview.
It is important to write directly to an individual by name instead of "to whom this may concern". Use the company website to find this information (and make sure your company name and hiring person's name are spelled correctly). An example of a cover letter is very useful to help you format this letter correctly.
Start your letter by stating who you are and why you are writing. Introduce yourself, and what job you are specifically seeking. It is important to give the reader a reason to want to read the whole letter. Give them an idea that you have knowledge of their company or an established commitment to or interest in their work. Perhaps you have a connection to their city or some other compelling reason for wanting to live in their city and work for them.
Try and sell yourself by showing them your experience and qualifications. Using an example of a cover letter will help you ask these questions correctly. You need to answer the question as to why the employer should want to interview you. Let them know all of the training and experience you have had to fit into their job qualifications. Prove to them that they want you!
